july 2009

july 2009 - sorry, no exciting news like june.
still stuck in kentucky. (it's not really that bad...) i'm a little more official now as apparently both kentucky and south carolina are taking taxes from my hard-earned money. wtf? it's ok government, i didn't want my money anyway. work, eat, sleep, run - story of my life. that might sound glamorous... but seriously it's all i do. it's not like i'm hanging out, watching tv, having a life, etc. it's no surprise why wedding-planning isn't progressing along. hello, running comes first.

total mileage: 267.60 (what? how did i do that?)
time spent running: 38:25:05
avg pace: 8:41/mile
days off: 2
avg resting hr: n/a (terrible at remembering to do this lately)
avg max hr: 177.67
pushups: 619 (can we say slacker?)

  1. Well that's gotta suck about the taxes (surely that's not legal?). Glad to hear you're keeping your priorities in order regarding wedding vs running :)

  2. WOW, and I was pumped about running almost 200 this month! That mileage is impressive! It's ok that you don't have a life...I don't either...I've realized pretty fast that trying to balance life with marathon training (and a boyfriend..and a job...)is NUTS!

  3. That sucks :( I can relate, we are Aussie expats in Spain so we are paying taxes to both countries....it seems so unfair!

  4. do you have one of those planning books that helps with the wedding planning? Believe it or not, when my mom planned my brother's wedding (yes, her, not the bride) I got hers from Snapfish. All the contact info and scheduling and stuff you might not remember in one place.

  5. Taht's some great mileage! Only two days off!! That's amazing! Hope your tax returns are good!?

  6. Amazing monthly mileage!

Sorry to hear about the double taxation. I've heard of that happening but don't know the rules about it. I do know that my hubby and I had a very simple do-it-for-yourself type of wedding because we were too busy (and cheap) to deal with planning a big one. We splurged on our honeymoon, though :-)

  7. That's some impressive mileage! I hope most of it wasn't on the dreadmill.

And that really sucks about being taxed in both states! But, I bet the tax rate together is still ess than California's tax rate (currently running around 11%). Grrr...

  8. One you decide on the date and the place, the wedding planning is cake. However, I let my mom do a lot of the stuff (she liked it and has good taste)!

  9. "Lindsay" and "slacker" are two words that never in the same sentence should be. Need proof? Check out your monthly mileage. Rock on, runner girl/bride-to-be!

  10. I hate taxes... I live in Nevada, but my employer is in Utah. So I get taxed by Utah even though I don't get to cast my vote for any decisions in that state! Not far!!!

Wedding planning is hard... just elope! ;-)

  14. WOW, your mileage is impressive. Congrats! It's like almost 100 over what I did, and I did more than I typically do! I am trully so excited about your marathon, because I think you are going to have an amazing race. You are so dedicated and talented - it's nice to watch:) Ana-Maria
P.S. You know, J can take care of the weddking planning. You don't strike me like someone who has precise ideas/dreams about what the wedding should be (I was the same).

  15. Omigosh, you had 2 days off the whole month? I had 2 days off this week! Are we training for the same marathon or am I missing something?

    Great job!

  17. It looks like you've improved on your mileage, by lot. Good job. Also, since I started following recently I didn't know you were engaged. So, congrats on that. Have you set a date yet?

How is it you pay taxes to two different states? Does your job move you around? Just curious. Well, good luck on August!

  28. AWESOME July!

You shouldn't have to pay those double taxes. When I loved in NY and worked in MA for a bit, I believe I got all of my MA taxes back. But it was eons ago, so my memory might not be the best :-)

I would look into it, though. Double taxes = no good.

  34. well, hopefully, you can end up getting a good tax refund next spring. you should look into, or have a tax professional, see if you should be filing a tax return for kentucky part-time resident, etc. Not sure about all the details, but a tax preparer would.
You're out of the hotel with a regular address there now, right?
