sowl: produce love

the first challenge (i think) in the sowl (summer of weight loss) is to try a new fruit and vegetable. i'm probably cheating on this one....
v8 is made from vegetables, and even though i've had these veggies individually, i haven't had them in the form of v8. hence, my "new" vegetable. it tasted like cold tomato soup with garlic seasoning (or something). it wasn't that bad, but i also used to eat ketchup straight from the packets so i'm not sure how valid my opinion is.

so what if i have had grapes before... i haven't had this wine before, and it's made of grapes, a fruit, so here we have my "new fruit" (meramec vineyards - catawba blush). it was tasty, i savored it with a plate of quinoa spaghetti. my wine 'glass' is classy, i know.

what, wine isn't the secret to losing weight?

{disclaimer: i purchased the v8 on my most recent trip to the food store, and the wine was a gift from my mom for dog sitting. the opinions are my own.}

  1. I wonder how the V8 would be if you mixed in the wine.

I tried a new whiskey. Does that count? It's kind of like a new form of corn. Actually, if you went on an all whiskey diet you probably would lose weight. Of course, you'd probably be dead within a year too.

  2. vodka = potatos = vegetable - am I following this correctly?

  3. LOL! You are hilarious.

I love V8. I have a glass in the morning and it's quite filling actually. Sometimes I add vodka.

    Good luck with the SOWL.

  5. That wine's as good a fruit as any. I like your style.

  6. I keep looking at V8 in the grocery store yet I can't bring myself to actually purchase any...I'm kinda veggie challenged, but I do adore most fruits. That said, V8 just looks nasty and you've confirmed my fears....I will never buy it now. Stick with the wine, at least you know what's in it!

  8. if you get the spicy hot v8, it makes a great base for tortilla soup! I like mine with diced avocado, and corn then I add black beans and shredded chicken. Top with crushed tortilla chips.
    Instant yummy-nummy-ness!

Thanks for your comment on my blog. It's really helpful. :)

  10. I like your way of thinking! I actually love V8--maybe you'll get there too?

  11. OK, you need to get a farm share (CSA). Seriously, it is so much fun, and this is coming from someone who avoids cooking like the plague. Each week you get a box of fruits and veggies (half of them I have no clue what they are), and since a new box is coming in a week, you have to eat them all (our rule is to not throw anything away!). After eating all those veggies, there really isn't much room for junk!

  12. That's hilarious! Somehow, I don't think either of those count! Love V8-low sodium, of course!

  14. Love it! However, by that logic, you could also deduce that M&Ms are made of chocolate which comes from the cacao tree which is a plant. And plants are like vegetables right? So, by the reflexive property of M&Ms, M&Ms = vegetables.

  15. I try and do the Bolthouse smoothies. Vitamin C and Green Goodness are my favs but I don't want to stand between a runner and her wine.

Hope the routes you took from G. Connect rocked your socks.

Will be doing one tomorrow while I'm in Vancouver(so pumped).

  16. Lindsay you have a good sense of humour! I like it!

It's better for you go shopping fresh fruit and not drink this bottle...

BTW, I like your commitment to sowl... I follow you of course!

  17. Blech, I *hate* V8!

Now ketchup straight from the packets, I could do!

  18. Hey hey hey! I love V-8. And tomato juice too. Yes. I'm strange.

I got a big laugh out of your reasoning for Garmin taking 3 days to answer email. So true!

  19. Love wine! I hate vegetables! HATE THEM!

  20. Don't think I've tried it, and probably never will. I am, however, a big fan of V8 Fusion (fruit version?). If fresh fruits were cheaper, and even better yet, sliced and prepared fruit, I'd be all over it, all the time!

Well they say it's good to have a glass of red wine with dinner, right?
