oktoberfast

oktoberfast is a little challenge put on by patrick (the road) and the clydesdale project. you pick your goal for the month of october and work at it. i am still trying to keep things laid-back, so instead of setting a mileage goal i am aiming to workout for at least 30-minutes everyday of the month. lately if i am unable to run (health-wise) i've been lounging on the couch and that isn't helping my waist-line, so i must quit taking days-off from exercising entirely. anything will count - walking, yoga, weights, abs, as long as it's 30-minutes or more. my other official 'oktoberfast challenge' goal is to lose 5 lbs.

october goals:
  • 30 minutes everyday (5x)
  • tempo runs (7:30-7:45) - 2mi and 4mi
  • speed work - 4x800; 3x1600
  • 12 core workouts (1x)
  • long runs - 8mi and 10mi
  • 90 miles on the bike
  • lift 5 times (1x)
  • lose 5 lbs

tuesday evening i attempted to knock the 2-mile tempo off the list, but i fell a little short. it's ok, i have time (for now) to try again.

tuesday (10/5) pm run: 5.05 miles, 45:06 (avg pace 8:56), 65*
tempo miles - 8:08, 7:44

  14. Love the name! And love the goals! You are inspiring me to set some of my own. 30 minutes of moving a day will totally make a difference. Love it.

  15. That's a great goal--just staying in the habit of daily exercise helps a lot.

  16. Sounds like great goals, especially the 5 lbs :). I will hold you accountable for that one! I'm so grateful anymore just to see my pace in the 8's, I have no idea what 7's are anymore ... so almost 2 in the 7's is mighty fine. Well, at least for me but I guess this isn't about me now, is it?! :)

Last night I ran really late, like at 9:00. Then i went to bed. I was down a pound today b/c I was probably dehydrated. Who cares, a pound is a pound. So maybe you should do your running very late at night? :)

  17. About Jill's comment - maybe I'll start running at night! Your goals are great, but you better hide those M&M's!

  20. Way to set yourself a goal for October. Though, I don't think beer is the answer Lindsay! lol. Great Goals! It's funny how your post and my post today relate. Take care, and enjoy October. It sucks, it's getting colder! Ahhhhhhhhh. Time to really get motivated about running!

  23. Overall pace still looks good for the 5 miler even if you didn't hit the paces you would have liked for the tempo portion.
